NixOS Dotfiles

Personal NixOS configuration for reproducible workstation setup using flakes and home-manager.

  • nixos
  • nix
  • linux
  • dotfiles
Flow of the nrs rebuild command: pick the host, check it exists in the flake, stage new files, run nixos-rebuild.
How it works

A declarative, reproducible workstation configuration built on NixOS flakes and home-manager. The goal is to be able to rebuild any machine from scratch with a single command.

What’s in it

  • Flake-based system configuration with per-host profiles
  • home-manager for user-level packages and dotfiles (shell, editor, tools)
  • Shared modules for common settings across machines
  • Declarative font, theme, and input configuration

Design principles

  • No imperative state if avoidable — configuration is the source of truth
  • Minimal use of overlays; prefer nixpkgs upstream or small local packages
  • The same flake works on both workstation and server profiles

Status

Active daily driver. Continuously iterated as I migrate more tooling into the Nix ecosystem.
